Executive Headteacher Welcome
Executive Headteacher Welcome
Welcome to The Mortimer Federation website, which offers a glimpse of life at the Federation. The Mortimer Federation comprises of two schools – Mortimer St. John’s Infant School and Mortimer St. Mary’s Junior School, situated in the beautiful and vibrant village of Mortimer in West Berkshire. Mortimer St. John’s provides education for our children from the age of four until the age of seven. Our children then move to Mortimer St. Mary’s to complete their primary years in education.
I am extremely proud to lead a dedicated team of staff who are committed to the pastoral and educational development of each child in our care. Staff, supported by governors, work hard to deliver a rich, exciting and challenging curriculum; to prepare children for future education; and life. The curriculum has evolved over the past three years and has been designed to engage and motivate young minds, to develop a sense of curiosity and a love of learning.
We believe that our distinctive culture at The Mortimer Federation of St. John’s and St. Mary’s comes from our welcoming, encouraging and caring environment based on our three values of aspiration, resilience and respect.
We want the very best for the children in our care and aim to offer a stimulating and supportive learning environment where children’s talents and gifts are nurtured and developed within a strong Christian ethos. Our school motto “Share Your Light”, is closely linked to the passage from John 10:10 “Life in all its fullness” which encourages all members of the school community to recognise their own and other’s strengths, skills, and to both celebrate and share this with others. Our three federation values of aspiration, resilience and respect support both children and adults in our mission to “Share Your Light”.
If you would like to find out what makes our schools so special we welcome visits to the schools. You can arrange a personal visit or join us at one of our Open Mornings in the Autumn term for prospective Year R and Year 3 parents. The best advertisement for our schools are the children and their achievements.
I look forward to meeting you and showing you around our schools.
Miss Jeni Pearson
