Year 5 Visit to Paultons Park
Year 5 Visit to Paultons Park
On Monday 16th June, the children in Year 5 went on a trip to Paultons Park, to learn all about forces as part of their Fairgrounds Project. They started the day with a workshop learning all about which forces are needed for rollercoasters to work. In groups the children had their own K’NEX rollercoaster model and had to investigate how high they had to release the cart from, to get it to do the loop the loop. They discussed how gravity, kinetic energy and air resistance all play a part in the rollercoaster speeding up and slowing down. The children also had great fun trying out different rides for themselves and experiencing the feeling of the forces in action.
“I really liked going on Storm Chaser and testing out the forces. Going to the workshop first meant we knew the different forces we were experiencing.” – Hannah
