YEAR 6 VISIT TO THE HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT

On Thursday 7th November, Year 6 were very lucky to visit the Houses of Parliament in London. This trip linked really well with the ‘Rulers and Government’ project that Year 6 completed prior to October half term. Not one child complained about arriving very early to school in the morning, which was admirable! Once the children arrived, the day started with with a tour of the building. They got to see the House of Commons, House of Lords, the King’s Robing Chamber and parts of Westminster Palace! The children asked lots of insightful questions and showed superb respect during the tour. They were also really lucky to meet and ask questions to the senior advisor of the Reading and West Berkshire MP, Olivia Bailey. Finally, the children ended the trip with a workshop where they got to explore sensory bags with different items linked to parliament in them. Everyone had a great time guessing what was in the bags just by touch and smell! Overall, it was a brilliant day and the children did the school proud, as always!
